The Tower is one of the most popular tourist attractions in London. The Tower of London was built after the victory over the Normans in 1066 by “William The Conqueror”. Since that time, the Tower has served as a palace, prison and zoo. Nowadays, the Tower is best known for the crown jewels that you can see there. Free guided tours are given by the “Yeoman Warders” (Beefeaters) about the history of the Tower.
Absolutely a winner! Even if you do not go into the Tower, because it is not really cheap, you can have a great time outside the gates of the Tower on a nice day. The Tower is at the bank of the Thames, right next to Tower Bridge, St. Katherine’s Dock and on the other side of the Thames HMS Belfast.
